Lyocell Jersey Fabric
-- Steady & Reliable Manufacturer --
Lyocell jersey is a lightweight, single-knit fabric made from lyocell fiber — a regenerated cellulose fiber produced through a closed-loop solvent spinning process — offering a smooth hand feel, excellent drape, and strong moisture management. It is widely used in T-shirts, casual tops, dresses, and sustainable everyday apparel.
Introduction
Lyocell is a regenerated cellulose fiber derived from sustainably sourced wood pulp, produced through a closed-loop lyocell process in which the organic solvent used to dissolve cellulose is recovered and reused at a rate of over 99%. This production method has a significantly lower environmental impact compared to conventional viscose manufacturing, making lyocell one of the more sustainable options among man-made cellulosic fibers.
Lyocell jersey combines this sustainable fiber with a single-knit construction to produce a fabric that drapes well, absorbs moisture effectively, and resists fibrillation when correctly finished. The smooth fiber surface and fine yarn result in a fabric with a refined appearance and comfortable hand feel. It is available with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, and FSC-certified wood pulp sourcing is available upon request.
Nantong Tianhong Textile Technology Co., Ltd. offers lyocell jersey across a range of weights and blends, with optional spandex for stretch applications. Custom dyeing and finishing are available to support product development for brands positioned in the premium sustainable and slow-fashion segments globally.

Advantage
- Closed-Loop Production: The lyocell process recovers and reuses over 99% of the organic solvent used in fiber production, significantly reducing chemical waste compared to conventional viscose manufacturing.
- Excellent Drape: Lyocell fiber produces a fabric with a fluid, natural drape well suited to dresses, tops, and garments where movement and silhouette are important.
- Moisture Management: Lyocell absorbs moisture rapidly and releases it efficiently, supporting comfort during wear across a range of activity levels.
- Smooth Surface: The fine fiber diameter and smooth surface of lyocell result in a refined fabric appearance that holds color well and presents cleanly in finished garments.
- Sustainably Sourced: Available with FSC-certified wood pulp sourcing and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, supporting traceable and responsible product claims.
- Q: What is the difference between lyocell and viscose?
- A: Both are regenerated cellulose fibers, but lyocell is produced through a closed-loop solvent process that recovers over 99% of chemicals used, making it significantly more resource-efficient than conventional viscose manufacturing. Lyocell also tends to have higher wet strength and better fibrillation resistance when correctly finished.
- Q: Is FSC certification available for this fabric?
- A: Yes. FSC-certified wood pulp sourcing is available upon request. Please specify this requirement when submitting your inquiry.
- Q: Can spandex be added for stretch?
- A: Yes. A lyocell-spandex blend is available for applications requiring two-way or four-way stretch. Please specify your target stretch and recovery performance when inquiring.
- Q: What certifications are available?
- A: OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification is available as standard. FSC certification for wood pulp sourcing is available upon request.
- Q: What is the lead time for samples?
- A: Fabric communication is completed within 3 days and sample production within 15 days.
